Description

A delightful Savory Croissant Bake filled with buttery croissants, smoky ham, and melted Swiss cheese, perfect for brunch gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 day-old croissants, sliced in half
  • 2 cups thick cut smoky ham, sliced
  • 2 cups grated Swiss cheese (or Gruyère)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh herbs (thym or chives) for seasoning

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease your baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
  3. Layer half of the croissant halves in the bottom of your dish.
  4. Spread the ham evenly over the croissants, followed by grated Swiss cheese.
  5. In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, cream, and seasonings. Pour this mixture over the layered ingredients.
  6. Top with the remaining croissant halves and any leftover cheese. Let it sit for at least 15 minutes.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes until puffed and golden. A knife should come out clean when inserted into the center.
  8. Allow to cool slightly before serving, and garnish with fresh herbs.

Notes

Use slightly stale croissants for optimal texture. For a lighter version, pair with a side salad.
