Description

A comforting Southern sweet potato casserole with a rich, buttery flavor, topped with a crunchy pecan crumble.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large sweet potatoes
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ½ cup butter, melted
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ⅓ cup flour
  • ⅓ cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Peel and boil the sweet potatoes until tender, about 20-30 minutes. Drain and mash until smooth.
  2. Add melted butter, sugar, milk, beaten eggs, vanilla extract, and cinnamon to the sweet potato and mix until combined.
  3. Pour the sweet potato mixture into a greased baking dish and smooth the top.
  4. In another bowl, mix brown sugar, flour, melted butter, and chopped pecans until coarse and crumbly.
  5. Sprinkle the pecan topping over the sweet potato mixture.
  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes, or until the topping is golden and crunchy.

Notes

Let the casserole cool for a few minutes after baking to allow the flavors to meld and the topping to set.
