Description
A decadent and easy-to-make chocolate cake, perfect for sharing with someone special.
Ingredients
Scale
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- ⅓ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ cup sugar
- ½ cup softened butter
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¼ cup milk
- Optional: ½ cup heavy cream and 1 cup chopped chocolate for ganache
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a small round cake pan, about 6 inches in diameter, by greasing it with butter and lining the bottom with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and baking soda. Whisk until well blended.
- In another bowl, beat the sugar and softened butter until light and fluffy. Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet, alternating with the milk, being careful not to overmix.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top with a spatula. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
- For optional ganache, heat the heavy cream, remove from heat, and stir in the chopped chocolate until smooth and glossy. Drizzle over the cooled cake.
Notes
For a healthier alternative, substitute half of the sugar with ripe mashed bananas or honey. Make sure all ingredients are at room temperature for best results.
