Description

Warm, buttery sliders filled with savory ham and melty cheese, perfect for gatherings and comforting Sunday meals.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 24 small soft rolls (dinner rolls, brioche, or Hawaiian rolls)
  • 1216 oz thinly sliced ham (Black Forest, honey-baked, or smoked)
  • 1012 oz cheese (Swiss, Gruyère, or cheddar)
  • 6 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard or grainy mustard
  • 1 tbsp honey (optional)
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced and caramelized (optional)
  • 1 tsp dried thyme or chopped fresh parsley
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish lightly.
  2. Slice the rolls horizontally, keeping the tops connected for a hinged effect.
  3. Brush the bottom layer with melted butter, then spread Dijon mustard across.
  4. Layer the ham evenly over the mustard.
  5. Add the cheese in an even layer.
  6. If using, distribute the caramelized onions or sautéed mushrooms, sprinkle thyme or parsley, and season with pepper.
  7. Place the top halves of the rolls over the fillings, brush with remaining melted butter, and optionally sprinkle with flaky salt.
  8. Cover with foil and bake for 15-20 minutes, then remove foil and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes until the cheese is bubbling and tops are golden.
  9. Let rest for 2-3 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Work with room-temperature butter for even brushing; warm ham slightly before assembling. For tangy variation, mix poppy seeds into butter before brushing.
