A comforting and festive dish featuring cubed steak marinated in a rich teriyaki sauce, served over rice with colorful vegetables.
Ingredients

- 1 lb cubed steak (sirloin or flank)
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tbsp brown sugar or honey
- 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 2 cups rice (white or brown)
- 2 cups vegetables (bell peppers, snap peas, or broccoli)
- Scallions, chopped for garnish
- Sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions
- Marinate cubed steak in soy sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, and grated ginger for about 30 minutes.
- In a large skillet, heat sesame oil over medium-high heat and add the marinated steak, reserving the marinade.
- Sauté the steak for 5-7 minutes until browned and cooked to your satisfaction, then set aside.
- Add vegetables to the same skillet and sauté until tender yet crisp.
- Return steak to the skillet, pour in reserved marinade, and let simmer for a few minutes.
- Cook rice according to package instructions.
- Assemble bowls by layering rice at the bottom, topped with steak, vegetable mixture, scallions, and sesame seeds.
Notes
For thicker sauce, whisk a cornstarch slurry (1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 1 tsp water) into the simmering sauce before serving.
