Description

A rich and creamy chocolate pudding that evokes fond memories and warm feelings with every spoonful.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • A pinch of salt
  • 2 3/4 cups whole milk (or milk alternative)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, whisk together cocoa powder, sugar, cornstarch, and salt.
  2. Gradually add milk to the dry ingredients, stirring continuously to prevent lumps.
  3. Place the saucepan over medium heat, whisking continuously until the mixture begins to bubble (about 5 to 7 minutes).
  4. Reduce heat and cook for another 2 minutes to fully activate the cornstarch.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in butter and vanilla extract, allowing the butter to melt.
  6. Pour pudding into serving dishes, covering with plastic wrap to prevent skin from forming.
  7. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving.

Notes

For a dairy-free option, substitute whole milk with coconut or almond milk. For added sweetness, substitute some sugar with maple syrup or honey.
