Description

A heartwarming dish featuring succulent meatballs in a rich marinara sauce served over spaghetti, perfect for family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Spaghetti
  • Ground beef (or a mix of ground beef and pork)
  • Breadcrumbs
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 onion, diced
  • Fresh basil, for garnish
  • Olive oil, for sautéing

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine ground meat, breadcrumbs, minced garlic, chopped parsley, grated Parmesan, eggs, salt, and pepper. Mix gently and form into golf-sized balls.
  2. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sauté the meatballs until golden brown on all sides, then transfer to a plate.
  3. In the same skillet, add diced onions and more oil. Cook until translucent. Pour in the tomato sauce, add a pinch of sugar to balance acidity, along with basil and oregano.
  4. Return meatballs to the skillet, ensuring they are submerged. Lower heat and let simmer for 20 to 30 minutes.
  5. Meanwhile, bring salted water to a boil and cook spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  6. Toss spaghetti with the sauce or serve topped with meatballs and sauce. Garnish with extra Parmesan and fresh basil.

Notes

Don’t rush the simmering process; it’s essential for developing flavor.
