Description
A heartwarming dish featuring succulent meatballs in a rich marinara sauce served over spaghetti, perfect for family gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- Spaghetti
- Ground beef (or a mix of ground beef and pork)
- Breadcrumbs
- 2 eggs
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1 onion, diced
- Fresh basil, for garnish
- Olive oil, for sautéing
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine ground meat, breadcrumbs, minced garlic, chopped parsley, grated Parmesan, eggs, salt, and pepper. Mix gently and form into golf-sized balls.
- Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sauté the meatballs until golden brown on all sides, then transfer to a plate.
- In the same skillet, add diced onions and more oil. Cook until translucent. Pour in the tomato sauce, add a pinch of sugar to balance acidity, along with basil and oregano.
- Return meatballs to the skillet, ensuring they are submerged. Lower heat and let simmer for 20 to 30 minutes.
- Meanwhile, bring salted water to a boil and cook spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Toss spaghetti with the sauce or serve topped with meatballs and sauce. Garnish with extra Parmesan and fresh basil.
Notes
Don’t rush the simmering process; it’s essential for developing flavor.
