- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3 large eggs
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- Food coloring (yellow, orange, and white)
- Candy corn for decoration
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare your round cake pans with butter and flour.
- In one bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter with the sugar until light and fluffy.
- Incorporate eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla, blending until smooth.
- Alternately add the flour mixture with milk, starting and ending with the flour.
- Divide the batter into three equal parts and tint each with food coloring (yellow, orange, and white).
- Pour the batter into prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let your cakes cool in the pans before transferring to a wire rack. Frost with buttercream once completely cool.
- Top with candy corn for decoration and serve.
Notes
Ensure ingredients are at room temperature for better mixing. Avoid overmixing the batter for a lighter cake.
