Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups all-purpose flour (or bread flour)
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 packet instant yeast (about 2¼ teaspoons)
- 1¾ cups lukewarm water
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (or melted butter)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine 4 cups of all-purpose flour and 2 teaspoons of salt.
- In a small bowl, mix 1 packet of instant yeast with 1¾ cups of lukewarm water and let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Make a well in the flour mixture and add the yeast mixture and 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Stir until combined.
- Knead the dough on a floured countertop for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
- Punch down the risen dough and divide into two or four equal parts. Shape each into a ball.
- Allow dough balls to rest for 30 minutes, covered with a cloth.
- Preheat your oven to 475°F to 500°F (~245°C to 260°C). Roll or stretch dough and add toppings. Bake for 10-15 minutes until golden brown.
Notes
For a crispier crust, use a preheated pizza stone. Be cautious with toppings to avoid a soggy crust.
