Description
A delightful blend of caramelized onions, cream cheese, and spices that creates a comforting dip perfect for any gathering.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 medium onions, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup sour cream
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme or chives, chopped
- Grated Parmesan or Gruyère cheese, to taste
Instructions
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and a pinch of salt, stirring frequently. Allow the onions to caramelize for about 25-30 minutes until they are deeply golden and sweet.
- In a mixing bowl, blend the cream cheese until smooth. Stir in the sour cream, mayonnaise, and minced garlic until combined.
- Once the onions are caramelized and slightly cooled, fold them into the cream cheese mixture along with fresh herbs and grated cheese.
- Season the dip to taste with salt and pepper.
- Chill the dip in the refrigerator for at least an hour before serving. Serve with vegetable sticks, crackers, or bread.
Notes
Feel free to adjust the herbs and cheese types based on your preference. For a dairy-free version, use vegan cream cheese and Greek yogurt.
