Description

A rich and luxurious dip made with caramelized onions, creamy cheese, and fresh herbs, perfect for any gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 8 oz cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 12 cloves garlic, minced
  • Fresh herbs (thyme, chives, parsley, or dill)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Squeeze of lemon juice (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and a pinch of salt, sautéing while stirring occasionally for about 25-30 minutes until they are soft and golden brown.
  2. In a bowl, combine 8 oz of cream cheese, 1 cup of sour cream, and 1-2 cloves of minced garlic. Blend until creamy and smooth.
  3. Allow the caramelized onions to cool slightly, then fold them into the creamy mixture along with your choice of fresh herbs.
  4. Season to taste with salt and pepper, and add a squeeze of lemon juice if desired.
  5. Chill the dip in the fridge for at least an hour before serving.
  6. Serve with an array of fresh vegetables, chips, or bread.

Notes

For a lighter version, substitute sour cream with Greek yogurt. Allow the dip to chill for optimal flavor.
