Description

A warm and inviting Cinnamon Swirl Protein Cake that combines rich flavors with nutritious ingredients, perfect for breakfast or an afternoon snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup protein powder (vanilla preferred)
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour (or almond flour for gluten-free)
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 cup unsweetened applesauce (or plain yogurt)
  • 1/2 cup honey or maple syrup
  • 2 eggs (or flaxseed eggs for vegan)
  • 1/2 cup milk (dairy, almond, or oat)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the protein powder, whole wheat flour, baking powder, and cinnamon. Mix well.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the applesauce, honey (or maple syrup), eggs, and milk until smooth.
  4. Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture, stirring until just combined.
  5. Pour half of the batter into the prepared cake pan and sprinkle the cinnamon-sweetener mixture over it.
  6. Spoon the remaining batter over the cinnamon layer and swirl it gently with a knife.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let it cool for 10 minutes before removing it from the pan.
  8. Serve warm, optionally topped with Greek yogurt or powdered sugar.

Notes

For added texture, consider mixing in dried fruits or nuts. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days at room temperature or refrigerate for a week.
