- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup dark chocolate chips
- 1 cup cherries, pitted and chopped
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp almond extract (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Melt the dark chocolate chips and butter over a double boiler until smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- In a larger bowl, beat the eggs, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Stir in the melted chocolate mixture and gradually mix in the dry ingredients.
- Gently fold in the chopped cherries so they are evenly distributed.
- Scoop balls of dough and place them on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are set but centers are still soft.
- Cool on the baking sheet for several minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
- Enjoy warm, optionally sprinkled with sea salt.
