Ingredients
Scale
- 1 loaf of bread dough (homemade or store-bought)
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- Fresh herbs (parsley, thyme, or rosemary)
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon yeast
- Warm water as needed
Instructions
- Prepare Your Dough: Combine flour, yeast, sugar, and salt in a large bowl. Gradually add warm water and mix until a soft dough forms. Knead until smooth.
- Time for Rising: Allow your dough to rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 60 minutes.
- Melt Your Butter: In a small saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1–2 minutes.
- Assemble the Bread: Punch down the risen dough and roll it out into a rectangle. Brush half of the garlic butter on top, sprinkle with cheese and herbs, then cut the dough into squares.
- Stack & Bake: Layer the dough squares in a prepared baking dish and drizzle the remaining garlic butter over the top. Let it rest for another 30 minutes.
- Bake: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake until golden brown, about 25-30 minutes.
- Serve Warm: Let it cool slightly before tearing it apart and serving with loved ones.
