A spicy twist on the classic sloppy joe featuring tender chicken and a blend of Cajun spices.
Ingredients

- 1 lb ground chicken (or turkey)
- 1 onion, diced
- 1 green bell pepper, diced
- 1 red bell pepper, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp Cajun seasoning
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp butter
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Buns (soft sandwich or brioche rolls)
Instructions
- In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add diced onions and bell peppers; sauté for 5-7 minutes until softened.
- Increase heat slightly and add ground chicken. Cook for 5-6 minutes until no longer pink, breaking it up with a spatula.
- Stir in minced garlic and Cajun seasoning; cook for an additional minute until aromatic.
- Pour in tomato sauce and Worcestershire sauce, mixing well. Lower heat and let simmer for 10 minutes to meld flavors.
- Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper as desired.
- Scoop the chicken mixture onto buns and serve warm. Optional: Toast buns lightly for added crunch.
Notes
For a leaner option, substitute ground turkey. You can also add zucchini or mushrooms for a vegetarian version.
