- 12 eggs
- 6 slices of bread (sourdough or brioche), torn into pieces
- 2 cups shredded cheese (sharp cheddar or Gruyère)
- 6 slices of bacon or sausage, cooked
- 1 cup mushrooms, diced
- 1 cup milk or cream
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a large baking dish.
- Cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy, then drain on paper towels.
- Add the diced mushrooms to the skillet and sauté until tender and golden, about 5-7 minutes.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, and pepper, then add the torn bread pieces.
- Fold in the crispy bacon, sautéed mushrooms, and cheese until well-combined.
- Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and top with additional cheese if desired.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes or until golden brown and set in the center.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
