Ingredients
Scale
- 8 slices of bacon
- 6 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
- 6 cups day-old bread or croissants, torn into pieces
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels, then crumble into pieces.
- In a large mixing bowl, tear the bread into bite-sized pieces and place them in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
- In the same bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk. Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder, then pour over the bread pieces.
- Add the crumbled bacon and shredded cheese atop the bread and egg mixture, mixing gently if you prefer an even distribution.
- Bake the casserole in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, until the top is golden brown and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
Notes
Allow the casserole to rest for at least 10 minutes before serving to help it set and enhance the flavors.
